Memphis has so much class............

World Overcomer's church in Memphis has erected a 72-foot-tall replica of the Statue of Liberty, tall and green like the original, with the right arm extended upward in the familiar pose. But instead of a torch, this statue holds a cross. And the famous inscription on her base--"Give me your tired, your poor..."--has been replaced by Roman numerals representing the Ten Commandments. A tear is running down her face.

Question: Couldn't that $2.6million have done something more useful? Fed the elderly? Built a shelter? Been used to wipe someone's ass?

Some days I think I need to get out of the Bible belt. Oy veh.

It begins again...

I've had a nice reprieve from travelling on business. After spending approximately 70% of the first quarter of the year jetsetting between Toronto, DC, Boston, Chicago, NYC (and the occasional jump to Washington for family time), I've had about eight weeks of downtime.

Alas, Sunday I'm headed back up to Toronto for a few days, followed by several weeks in DC, and a likely trip or two back to the NYC area (Stamford, CT to be specific). While I thoroughly enjoy travel, and experiencing different cities, it sucks to be away from my man and my puppy (and friends, of course!). But, its totally great for my career, and its nice to actually be around coworkers face-to-face.

I just realized this is probably a completely boring post, but its what's going on. So there you have it :-)
